Our Current Vacancies

Full time qualified or part qualified accountant

The Edinburgh Collection is seeking a full-time qualified or part-qualified accountant (we will also consider candidates who are qualified by experience) to join our established accounts team, supporting a group of eight companies.

This is a one-year fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, with a strong possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role depending on performance and business needs.

You will report directly to the Group Accountant and Directors and will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the group, including the following.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Develop efficient month-end processes and improve the overall effectiveness of the finance function
  • Manage the month-end close, including: accruals and prepayments, payroll postings, fixed asset register maintenance and intercompany accounting and reconciliations
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts in conjunction with departmental heads
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger postings and prepare and review monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare statutory accounts and audit packs
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Oversee credit control
  • Manage and develop a small accounts team
  • Produce ad hoc weekly and monthly financial reports as required
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably requested

You must be comfortable liaising with auditors and bank managers as required.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience in accounts preparation, including consolidated accounts, and will have experience managing and developing a small team. You will be able to quickly learn new systems and demonstrate strong organisational and prioritisation skills. You should be confident working with minimal supervision, under pressure, and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.

This role will be office-based in Edinburgh with the occasional travel to London.

Working pattern: 40 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm

Salary: dependent on Experience and Qualifications, ranging from £30K to £50K
