About us

History

The Old Waverley Hotel was purchased by Palm Holdings in 2003, and formed the basis of what would later become The Edinburgh Collection, including some of the best hotels in Edinburgh. The Old Waverley Hotel provides 3-star city centre accommodation to business and leisure visitors alike, and has history dating back to 1847, making it the oldest hotel on Princes Street.

Holyrood apartHOTEL was added to The Edinburgh Collection in March 2010 and provides contemporary and modern 4-star serviced Edinburgh hotel accommodation to our guests, with the option of either studio or two-bedroom apartments. Holyrood apartHOTEL offers a great location in the centre of Edinburgh’s Old Town and is just walking distance from The Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh Castle.

4-star Channings joined The Edinburgh Collection in December 2010, and is a great addition to the group, being renowned as one of Edinburgh’s best and friendliest hotels. To suit its location slightly away from the city centre, Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels like a Scottish country home full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia. Channings is also proud of its historic connection with the Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton, who lived in one of the Channings townhouses between 1904 and 1910.

The Howard 5-star hotel in Edinburgh joined The Edinburgh Collection in December 2010 and offers unrivalled luxury in Edinburgh city centre with its 24 hour butler service! The Howard is a classically elegant hotel both outside and in, and has just 18 luxury rooms and suites, named after Edinburgh streets. Rich, colourful and contemporary fabrics have been used to create a traditional look with no two hotel rooms being identical in size, shape or aspect.
